What will teaching in the 21st century be like?
Professor Dancealot
The central message for "Professor Dancealot" in that a student cannot simply learn by reading straight from the book and listening to the professor. He must be engaged in the activity and even do some hand on learning and practice. The author makes the case for this conclusion by showing that the students are not ready to dance when they are presented with their final. They had no actual dance practice with a partner or in general. When the teacher told them to dance, they had no idea what to do. I agree with the conclusion. This example could be replaced with teaching. If I just sat in a classroom and listened to a professor speak on how to teach a class, then when I actually started teaching my own classroom, I would not have the first clue on what to do or expect.

I agree with Roberts, teaching is changing and will continue to change. Students can do things more independently than they could many years ago without the use of technology. This will affect me as an educator by possibly lowering job opportunities. Personally, I believe there is nothing like actual hand on learning. Having a person in front of you showing you how to do something cannot compare to looking it up via internet. This will also mean that myself and fellow teachers will have to work even harder and make sure students understand the importance of learning in the classroom.
The Networked Student
In The Networked Student, Dexler addressed the fact that one student is able to do many great things with the help of technology. Along with listening to his own teacher, he is able to get help form professors at Berkley. He even went out on his own to ask a director to speak to his class via Skype. But when asked, "Why does the networked student even need a teacher?" the response is because he needed someone to teach him how to network, which is where it all started. I agree with Dexler. I could go out on my own and try to create my own business. I'm not going to know how to unless I speak with a teacher who helps me and instructs me what do. Like Dexler says about the networked student, the teacher also taught him how to talk to professionals. I could not go out and just talk to someone to invest in my business without learning how to properly speak to them and what to say.

Davis's thesis is that teachers should not have the mind set of "knowing everything when they go in to the classroom." She says that they should be open and listen to what the students have to say they learned. She also said to learn things with your students. Davis said that if you go into a classroom with the attitude that you have to know everything, then you will not accomplish your goal. At first I did not agree with her. But after opening my mind and listening to what she had to say, I completely agree with her now. I even remember teaching one my high school teachers something in my journalism class.
Who's Ahead in the Learning Race?
I am an undergraduate student, and I believed that at least the graduate students would at least be ahead in the learning race. After watching the video, I now believe that the elementary students are in the lead. After seeing how fluently they worked on the Macs making videos and blogging, I fully believe they have the upper hand. I know I could not even compete with them.
Flipping the Classroom
I have never heard of flipping the classroom. I believe it will be very beneficial to the student and the teacher. I would like to try it in my classroom for one subject to see how it works. I believe it will work because it prepares the students for what is yet to come. It will be very helpful with difficult concepts that take up more class time.
Bringing the Locker Room into the Classroom
I think this is a very effective way to help maximize the way students learn in the classroom, especially for the athletes. I would most definitely ask question before and after the assignment. That way I know what the students anticipate and what they learned.

I completely agree with what you are saying about education changing. This class has already opened my eyes to what will be a new generation of education. I think that as future educators we will all see that building our own networks is key to helping our students build their own. Also, students are bored in their classrooms now because of everything available at their fingertips. Why not let them use the technology if it will be for their own benefit eventually? Not only this, but I am pretty sure that most people learn better with hands on training. Since times are changing, let's teach them how we have always wanted to be taught!
